Life can often feel like a whirlwind of responsibilities, expectations, and challenges that leave us drained and overwhelmed. In the midst of our busy lives, finding moments of true rest becomes essential. Just as our bodies need sleep to rejuvenate, our souls need rest to reset and find renewal. Psalms 91 is a sweet reminder that despite what is going around us, it is safe to rest in God's presence. As we dwell in Him, we discover a shelter from the storms of life.
Last year, I found myself unknowingly low on blood for four months. It wasn't until an emergency doctor's appointment that I discovered my blood count was at 5.2 far below the healthy level of 11. This led to a blood transfusion, two rounds of iron infusions, a minor surgery, and a much-needed eight months of rest to restore my health. Through God's grace, I received the healing I needed, coupled with a revelation of His sovereignty over my life. I learned to place my trust fully in Him, realizing that resting in His care is essential for my well-being and it allows me time to reset.
To reset is the act of reclaiming a position that may have been challenged or taken from us.
The challenges we face often try to steal our promises, joy, and peace. But as women of God, we have been warned of the enemy's schemes. He seeks to unsettle our minds and hearts, leading us away from our trust in God. Yet, we can reclaim our position through rest, knowing that God's love and protection surround us. During moments of spiritual warfare consider meditating on Psalms 91. This psalm, is known to bring comfort to soldiers in battle, it also holds the power to soothe the battles of the mind. Just as Paul mentions the war between our flesh and spirit, we often find ourselves conflicted between rest and work. But it's during these times that we can learn to dwell in God's presence, experiencing His rest through prayer, meditation, and trust in His Word. It's what we know about God that becomes the foundation of our rest. What do we know? We sing it often that his love gets sweeter and sweeter as the days go by.
Ladies I didn’t know where you are in life if you need to rest due to grief, rest due to exhaustion, rest due to illness but I want you to know that it is safe to rest in God. I read this a few months ago, that A fruit bearing tree is still a tree no matter what season of life it’s in. You might not be standing tall today with ripe fruit but maybe your leaves are a bit withered and you feel like one more blow might knock you down. But remember, your tree remains rooted in God. He has designed seasons of rest so that you can remain connected to Him. He declares that it is safe to rest, and it does not diminish who you are. You may be in a different season of life, but God is still the same, unchanging God. When we learn to rest, we regain the energy to fight the battles that rage in our minds, homes, marriages, and neighborhoods. Then, with unwavering faith, we can boldly declare, "The Lord is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust." This declaration becomes our source of strength, our shield against adversity, and our pathway to victory.
I want to leave you with this powerful truth: Rest is not a luxury; it is a necessity. It is the key to unlocking the fullness of who we are meant to be and who God can show himself to be in our lives. In the stillness, in the quiet moments of communion with our Heavenly Father, we find renewal, clarity, and the strength to overcome.
Dear Heavenly Father, help us to embrace your gift of rest, reclaim our position of trust, and allow you to reset our lives. May we find rest in your presence today. Rejuvenate our faith in you and may the woman reading this emerge from her place of rest as a warrior, ready to impact your world with love, grace, and unwavering faith. In Jesus name, Amen.
